PLAYING 1st BASE

While it is true that 1st baseman must have his batting and power as their main skills, it is also true that the defense skills that they can exhibit while scooping throws and completing plays, will translate into a reduction of runs for the opposite team.

Points to consider:

- Arriving on time to the base allows a better preparation in case of a bad throw.
- Getting to an athletic position helps adjust to any type of ground balls and throws.
- Good communication with the pitcher and the 2nd baseman will help make the right decisions when going after a ground ball or a pop up.
